James Gilbert

James Gilbert is a skilled craftsman who creates beautiful, high-quality wooden pens from different types of wood. Each pen is unique—there are no two alike. All of James Gilbert's pens are made by James himself in his workshop in England. Perfect designs and details complete every pen. 

By chance, a pen maker

James Gilbert is a retired man over 70 who became interested in woodworking after retiring. James's grandchild asked him to make a dollhouse that needed lots of windows, doors, and of course, furniture. This project rekindled James's childhood passion for woodworking, which had been buried under the demands of his IT career.

While making a dollhouse, James met Chris, who handcrafted guitars. Chris taught James about the differences between various types of wood and the secrets of woodworking. After several woodworking projects, James began making pens that are timeless and classically stylish. Spare parts are easy to get for all of James's pens, and with proper care, they last forever.

James makes each pen with care and attention to every detail. He uses a wide variety of wood species from around the world. These beautiful woods become skillfully crafted pens that any gentleman can use with pride. James designs every pen himself and is always searching for unique materials to make his pens from. He has made pens from, among other things, pine cones and oak over 1,000 years old. Every pen he makes is completely unique.

James Gilbert's principle has always been to make quality pens that stand the test of time. Every pen can have its ink cartridge replaced, which you can get from a bookstore, so these pens never run out. 

Even though traditional pens are needed less often these days, it's all the more special to invest in a really good one.
