By chance, a pen maker
James Gilbert is a retiree over 70 years old who became enthusiastic about woodworking after retiring. James's grandchild asked him to make a dollhouse that needed lots of windows and doors, as well as furniture, of course. This project brought back James's childhood passion for woodworking, which had been buried under other priorities during his career in IT.
While making a dollhouse, James met Chris, who handcrafted guitars. Chris taught James the differences between various types of wood and some secrets of woodworking. Soon after various woodworking projects, James started making pens that are timeless and classically elegant. All of James's pens have easily available spare parts and, with good care, they last forever.
James crafts each pen with care and respect for every detail. He uses a wide variety of wood species from around the world. From these magnificent woods, he creates exquisite pens that any gentleman can use with pride. James designs each pen himself and is constantly searching for unique materials to make his pens. He has made pens from pine cones and oak that is over 1000 years old. Every pen he makes is completely unique.
