Collared Shirts

A dress shirt is definitely one of the classics of dressing and also a cornerstone of your wardrobe. A quality dress shirt will last through wash after wash.  

Dress shirts come in all styles. The absolute classic is, of course, the white dress shirt. A white dress shirt suits every occasion and is definitely the right choice for celebrations. A white dress shirt always works with a dark suit. With a blue dress shirt, you can add a nice touch of color to your outfit, for example, with a sport coat. Dress shirt fabrics differ—some are clearly more formal, while others are great for more casual wear. Small details, like buttons in a different color, can give a fresh look to a traditional dress shirt.

When choosing a dress shirt, it's worth considering the thickness of the fabric. If you tend to sweat easily, you should choose a thin dress shirt. In summer, a thinner dress shirt is definitely more comfortable to wear and it breathes better. A thicker cotton fabric in a shirt is naturally always a bit warmer, so this kind of shirt is great for winter dressing. 

You can recognize high-quality cotton fabric, for example, by what the care label says about ironing. If the shirt is recommended to be ironed at a low temperature, it indicates that the fabric is of high quality. 

Pay attention to the collar style when choosing a dress shirt

Dress shirts come in many different collar types. It's worth choosing the collar type based on the occasion and your own preference. Typically, a dress shirt has traditional collars, which can be either stiff or soft. Stiff collars are more formal and don't wrinkle, and most traditional dress shirts are like this. In a cutaway-collar shirt, the collars are a bit smaller and more open than in a traditional dress shirt. In our selection of Bronx shirts, the collars are small and this shirt is often worn with one button open. The mandarin collar is a dress shirt with no collar at all, but the shirt rises just slightly on the neck. There are also dress shirts with collars that have button fastenings, that is, a button-down collar. This adds a nice detail to the shirt and is best suited for everyday wear.   

Play with patterns

A patterned dress shirt can be colorful, and a bold printed shirt brings out the wearer's personality. A dress shirt can have color, and even a small pattern gives a fresh look to your outfit. A patterned dress shirt also works great on its own, for example paired with chinos. Try a colorful dress shirt boldly—the whole look works well when you wear solid-colored pants and maybe a sweater with it. A bold dress shirt works excellently, for example, with a subtle blazer. A patterned dress shirt works perfectly with a solid-colored blazer.
